ARCHAEOLOGICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL MONUMENTS
CASE HISTORY
|
Conservation and Restoration of Monuments Standing water, high humidity and air pollution can have devastating effects on old and new structures. When archaeological and architectural monuments are exposed to such influences, the challenges are especially unique. Soil-Sement® has been used successfully by authorized Midwest Industrial Supply, Inc. distributors in Europe to protect valuable cultural sites against capillary moisture and external atmospheric influence. As shown in the adjoining photographs, Soil-Sement® was used in treating the famous Rila monastery, a monument in Bulgaria whose worldwide importance has been recognized under the auspices of UNESCO. Soil-Sement® was introduced into the building's foundation and was responsible for a drastic improvement in the waterproofing and thermal insulation of the building foundation. |
