Suppresses Blue Smoke,
    Dust and Explosions

AUTOMOBILE SHREDDING & RECYCLING...
A major source of scrap metal in the world.

Vehicles that are no longer serviceable are typically dismantled and the components recycled. Automobile shredders reduce cars to small fragments that can be separated into homogenous materials for recycling.

Automobile shredders are designed to withstand the force of the impact from metal projectiles inside the chamber. Under normal conditions, auto shredders are very noisy, dusty and produce blue smoke from the oil remaining in the cars. Explosions are also common during shredding, the result of gasoline tanks and compressed gas containers left in the car hulks. Usually, the explosions do not seriously damage the shredder, but they are definitely a concern for both plant workers and surrounding neighborhoods.

Dust-Buster® is a complete management system that includes both advanced design application equipment and efficient, safe to handle, environmentally friendly foaming chemical.

Dust-Buster® has proven successful in solving the problems of explosions, blue smoke, and dust in automobile shredders throughout North America.

When employing the Dust-Buster® system, the shredding chamber is continuously filled with expanded foam, applied with Dust-Buster®’s proprietary application equipment. With treatment, the explosions are significantly decreased, and those explosions that do occur are much less intense. Blue smoke is also significantly reduced. Dust generated during the shredding process is also greatly reduced with minimal water addition. When the material exits the shredder, the dust has been suppressed and the treated material is dry enough to begin the sorting and recycling process. Dust control continues down stream at transfer points and screening without additional treatment.
