Erosion Control and Soil Stabilization provided at a Wisconsin State Park Bike Trail The top layer of soil on a popular mountain bike trail had eroded, exposing rocks at curves and grades.  A safe and effective stabilizer that wouldn’t pollute ground water was needed.   Attempts to control the problem with erosion mats covering the limestone had failed.  When the limestone eroded, the mats were exposed and posed a safety  hazard.  Another product was tested, but proved difficult to apply because of its viscosity and odor. Soil-Sement® was easily applied to a section of the bike trail.  The surface binding is so powerful that skid marks were produced from bike traffic.  Soil-Sement® also provided longer intervals between maintenance applications.  Soil-Sement® is environmentally safe and had no adverse effect on adjacent plant life.  It works in a 4”-6” base and is less costly than other mechanical methods of stabilization.
