Opencast Coal Road Dries Out Too Quickly During |
On a hot day at a major opencast coal site, the coal roads were drying out and becoming dusty within 20 minutes after watering. They experienced dramatic improvement after entering a Dust Control Program using Haul Road Dust Control® mixed with water at a rate of 1:1000. As a result, the water bowser was only required to water the site four times per day, which created a substantial cost savings. Because dust was greatly reduced, the lorries leaving the site spent less time in the wheel wash and tracked very little material onto the public highway. Using Haul Road Dust Control® as part of a planned maintenance program greatly improves safety and operations while reducing maintenance and operating costs by increased wetting of dust. This allows slower evaporation of water, increased ground moisture and better surface compaction with less surface deterioration. |

CASE HISTORY - ROAD CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
|
Causes deep moisture |
Through the hot, dry summer of 1995, a construction company experienced severe dust control problems on a large roadway construction project. They were using an average of 28 water bowsers on a twenty kilometer stretch in an attempt to control the dust generated from friable soils on the roadway. When the problems were at their height, they began using Haul Road Dust Control® and immediately turned the situation from constant combative troubleshooting to an effective planned maintenance program which maximized the effectiveness of the water bowsers by increasing the wetting and penetration ability of water by at least 100%. |
