PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Ice Free Switch® works as an anti-icing agent. When applied to switch points, plates and side rails prior to snow or ice storms, it will remain in place to activate when needed to melt falling and blowing snow and prevent switches from freezing.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTS
Ice Free Switch® is enhanced by NASA’s smart fluid technology, (US patent 5,772,912) which was developed by NASA, Ames Research Center. Midwest Industrial Supply, Inc. and NASA have a joint license agreement to utilize this technology. This enhances Ice Free Switch® by making it non-newtonian, or able to resist removal by rain, sleet, snow and wind and therefore is easily applied at all low temperatures.
Ice Free Switch® is considered to be practically non-toxic to aquatic life.
Ice Free Switch® is formulated using a blend of diethylene glycol (DEG) and propylene glycol (PG) optimizing the benefits of each material.
Ice Free Switch® is a blend of the two glycols, reducing the chronic oral toxicity. When used in an industrial application and as directed per manufacturers instructions there is no chance for ingestion.
Ice Free Switch® is not absorbed easily through the skin and therefore poses little risk of injury upon contact.
Vapor inhalation of Ice Free Switch® poses little health risk, especially when used in cold temperatures, since there is little volatilization.
Ice Free Switch® is biodegradable and will not remain in the environment for an extended period of time.
Ice Free Switch® degrades completely to carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and water.
