Erosion Control Provided for an Environmentally Conscious Park in Spain

A century-old park in Barcelona, Spain has experienced continuous erosion problems on their pathways. To control the erosion, park maintenance officials tried re-grading the pathways and even constructing concrete and stone ditches, but the erosion problems persisted. Also, dust from pathways presented health and safety problems to the public as the paths were used frequently. The park officials wanted to maintain the natural aesthetic and historical accuracy by keeping dirt pathways as opposed to concrete or asphalt.  They also needed a solution which would not harm the extensive ornamental foliage in the park.

A Soil-Sement® Dust and Erosion Control Program from Midwest Industrial Supply, Inc. was implemented for erosion control on the park’s pathways. Soil-Sement® has the ability to solve the dust and erosion problems unique to park environments wishing to maintain a natural aesthetic with natural pathways and yet remain accessible to the widest public (i.e. the elderly, the physically challenged) because of its ability to bond and cross link with dust particles to create a bonded surface that eliminates dust and erosion. Soil-Sement® will not cause harm to vegetation, will not wash away or leach out of the surface like calcium, brine or lignin sulfonates and will not salt out like chlorides. Soil-Sement® is environmentally safe, and is easy to apply.
