  1. Who uses Haul Road Dust Control?
Anyone that uses water to control dust should include Haul Road Dust Control. Road construction, mining, temporary events, earth moving, etc. will benefit from Haul Road Dust Control. Water trucks, wet-spray street sweepers, or other methods of applying water to control dust emissions will improve their effectiveness by adding Haul Road Dust Control.

  2. What is Haul Road Dust Control?
Haul Road Dust Control is an environmentally-friendly organic surface active agent that will dramatically reduce the surface tension of water. Water is generally very hard and contains minerals and other components that contribute to a larger water droplet size. To effectively wet fine dust particles, especially “moon dust”, it is important to have a similar sized water droplet. Haul Road Dust Control breaks the surface tension to enable water to “wet out” fine dust particles quickly.

  3. When is Haul Road Dust Control used?
Haul Road Dust Control is used anytime water is used to control airborne dust emissions. Roadways, sweeping, material handling, etc., where water is the primary method used to control dust.

  4. Where is Haul Road Dust Control used?
Haul Road Dust Control can be used in all climates when temperatures are above freezing. It can be used in all types of water including sea water.

  5. Why is Haul Road Dust Control Used?
Haul Road Dust Control is used to extend the amount of time the water takes to evaporate. When water does not penetrate into the surface, a large percentage of the water is carried off by tires or remains on the top of the surface to quickly evaporate. By absorbing into the surface, the dust particles actually “wet-out” and remain on the surface for a longer period of time. With the high prices of fuel, extending your water applications as long as possible makes great economic sense. A water truck “always chasing its’ tail” proves to be ineffective. Getting your water to last TWO - THREE times longer allows you to cover more area with the same equipment, or reapply before the surface is again out of control.

  6. How is Haul Road Dust Control used?
Haul Road Dust Control® is normally diluted in a water tank at the rate of 1 gallon of Haul Road Dust Control® to 2,000 gallons of water. To minimize foaming, add to the water tank just prior to being completely filled. Otherwise, Haul Road Dust Control® can be injected into the water line used for filling by utilizing a metering injection pump. In some circumstances, you can increase the dilution rate for extremely hard-to-wet surfaces. Some clay material, or other materials like petroleum coke, may require the increased dilution. Dilution rates of 1 to 1,000 or even 1 to 500 gallons could be required.
