  1. What is Road Oyl?
Road Oyl is a patented resin-modified emulsion that provides a cold applied high performance treatment for bare earth or unpaved surfaces such as stockpiles or as dirt road dust control for unpaved roads. Formulated from tree resin ingredients, this state-of-the-art, non-ionic emulsion technology is unique in its high bonding strength and is appropriate for use even in close proximity to wetland areas and other areas of environmental sensitivity. Road Oyl provides the clean, high performance technology needed for any type of project requiring dirt road or other surface dust control and soil stabilization.

  2. Is Road Oyl environmentally safe?
Road Oyl is made from all natural ingredients harvested on a sustainable basis. It has never had a problem being approved for use in any application or as part of an environmental permit issued to an operating entity such as a landfill, steel mill or mine

    .
  3. Who else is using it and where?
Road Oyl has been used all over the world for over 15 years, by the U.S. Military, landfills, steel mills, coal mines and gold mines.

  4. How much Road Oyl will I need?
A Midwest representative can answer that question by taking into consideration the area you need treated, type of traffic, type of soil and site specific needs for dust control and stabilization. Call 1-800-321-0699 or (330) 456-3121 to find out.

  5. How long will Road Oyl last?
It depends on a number of factors such as traffic, track-on, and spillage as well as the condition of the road. Applications are cumulative, so reapplications should become more dilute and less frequent until the maintenance level is reached. A Midwest Representative can give you more details on the longevity after talking to you about your specific factors.

  6. How much does Road Oyl cost?
Road Oyl is an economical solution to dust control. Remember, this is a concentrate that is diluted from 4:1 to 15:1 with water before use. Your actual cost will be determined by the dilution ratio and frequency of application. A Midwest representative can give you an exact cost by taking the area needing treatment, soil type and traffic into consideration. Call 1-800-321-0699 or (330)456-3121 to find out.

  7. What dilution ratio do I use for Road Oyl?
Road Oyl can be diluted from 4:1 to 15:1 with water. The lower the dilution the more control you will get with each application and the less often you should have to spray. With track on or spillage, use higher dilutions and spray more often.

  8. Do I need to grade the road first before using Road Oyl?
It is not necessary to grade the road for basic topical applications for dust control. However, if the road is rough we do recommend grading it first.

  9. Will Road Oyl harm my water truck?
No. When finished spraying, flush the system with water until it runs clear.

  10. Will Road Oyl track?
They will not track when applied as directed by following the recommended cure time. Excessive application or over saturation will track when freshly applied.

  11. Will Road Oyl get on or stick to vehicles?
When freshly applied, product could splash on vehicles driving over the surface or on nearby vehicles. Freshly splashed product can be flushed off with water. Dried product can be cleaned with hot water and detergent.

  12. Will Road Oyl harm my road?
No. Unlike salts or other water soluble products, it will actually help stabilize the road rather than draw excessive moisture to the road base that can be harmful.

  13. Does it cause rust?
No. It is non-corrosive as well as non-hazardous, non-flammable, and non-toxic.
