Disinfect for the health of your employees and customers

Approved for use against SARS-CoV-2, the virus strain that causes COVID-19 (EPA Reg. Number 68660-11).

As our workplaces begin to re-open, health and government officials are calling for an increased effort to provide safe work environments, in part by requiring more frequent disinfecting and sanitization of surfaces. Companies will likely be held accountable when employees get sick.

Can you ensure that all your spaces are safe? The good news is that there is a proven way to disinfect, clean and deodorize commercial, institutional, industrial and public spaces.

Since Midwest is the leader in the control of harmful dust and improving health and safety — everywhere from industrial facilities and rail/transit authorities to indigenous villages and rural municipalities — it makes sense that you look to us to meet this new health and safety challenge. The product we’ve chosen for the core of this system is on the EPA List N.

The complete Midwest Disinfecting System is ready to ship and as easy to deploy as 1-2-3:

A world of new risks and new responsibilities.

This isn’t a “new normal.” It’s completely abnormal.

Businesses, schools, restaurants, stores — everything you can think of — will have to fundamentally change how they’re structured and how people interact due to COVID-19. Even if the reopening goes smoothly and there is not dramatic relapse in additional cases, you now have responsibilities you never had before, with the lives and wellbeing of your customers, employees, students, et al. in your hands.

Check out the chart below (showing how droplets are carried on particulate matter such as dust), and you’ll see that the 6-foot rule isn’t as golden as we are led to believe. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a virus will spread primarily from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are expelled into the air when an infected person sneezes, coughs or speaks.

Research has shown that similar respiratory viruses can remain active on surfaces for a number of days. People can be infected if they touch these contaminated surfaces and then touch their mouth, nose or eyes. Although it is not certain how long the a virus can survive on a surface, one study done in a hospital found that similar viruses can persist on hard surfaces such as glass, metal or plastic for up to 9 days (Journal of Hospital Infection 2020, DOI:10.1016/j.jhin.2020.01.022).

PROXITANE® AHC

A hospital-grade, commercial disinfectant formulation approved by the EPA.

PROXITANE® AHC has been granted approval for use against SARS-CoV-2 — the virus strain that causes COVID-19 — by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It has been granted EPA Registration Number 68660-11 as a disinfectant for use against SARS-CoV-2.

a concentrated liquid for broad spectrum surface disinfection

effective against a wide range of bacteria, viruses, fungi

kills pathogens (such as viruses)

generates free oxygen to attack proteins

available in 1, 5, 30, 55 and 275 gallon pails/drums/totes

easily diluted 2 oz. of product to 5 gallons of water (1:320 ratio)

Proxitane AHC is a concentrated liquid, commercial disinfectant, composed of peracetic acid and hydrogen peroxide, effective against a broad range of bacteria, viruses, and fungi including Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella enterica, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Vesicular Stomatitis Virus, Porcine Respiratory and Reproductive Syndrome Virus, Influenza A Virus, Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis Virus, Rhinovirus Type 37, Infectious Bursal Disease Virus, Newcastle Disease Virus, and Avian Influenza Virus (H3N2).

COVID-19 is caused by SARS-CoV-2. Proxitane AHC kills similar viruses and therefore can be used against SARS-CoV-2 when used in accordance with the directions for use against Rhinovirus Type 37 on hard, non-porous surfaces.

Normally, when an infected person breathes, talks, laughs, coughs or sneezes, a range of different sizes of droplets containing the virus are expelled. Many of these droplets are larger (10 microns and up) and will drop to the ground fairly quickly, due to gravity. This is the usual way the virus is spread: through direct contact with those droplets, either because you are standing within six feet of the person or because you touched a surface that still has those droplets.

However, most of the particles are smaller, under 5 microns in size. These smaller droplets, referred to as “aerosols,” are buoyant, allowing them to stay in the air longer. They can spread 27 feet or more through the air. While not as common as direct contact, this airborne method of contracting COVID-19 is a little harder to protect against. (Morganstern, J. “Aerosols, Droplets and Airborne Spread: Everything you could possibly want to know.” Updated April 22, 2020. Accessed 04/28/20. https://first10em.com/aerosols-droplets-and-airborne-spread/)

Proxitane AHC has been specially formulated with a detergent for excellent cleaning and contact with surfaces spanning plastic, stainless steel, linoleum, vinyl, glazed porcelain and glass. It breaks down to vinegar and water. Peracetic acid and hydrogen peroxide, the primary ingredient in Proxitane AHC, are included on the EPA safer choice chemical list (https://www.epa.gov/saferchoice).
